I'm expecting identical twin girls but still need to settle on names.. We really like Tia, but are not sure what middle name goes well with this. We also like Darcie for the 2nd baby, but am worried that this also is a boys name and may create confusion where there is already going to be some (ie, which twin is which). What to others think? Also, what middle name goes well with Darcie?
Can someone help in naming my identical twin girls?
Congrats on the babies! You can be confident that God thinks you're a special enough lady to handle the challenges that are coming your way.
I don't think Darcie would be confused with a boy's name. I've never heard of a boy named Darcie.
I have a bajillion girl name ideas because my 2nd daughter was born Jan. 13th, and I was agonizing forever to think of a name. (By the way, kudos for not picking names that rhyme!! That is so tacky when parents do that!)
I like:
Tia Lianne and Darcie Jayne
and
Tia Marie and Darcie Rae
The main things to think about are:
-You don't want your kids to have to pronounce their names for people, so make sure it's something you can spell in a self-explanatory way.
-Pick something meaningful to you or your family--like a relative you want to honor or something with a meaning that symbolizes your hopes for the child.
For example, we named our girls Grace Christine and Joy Elise, which together mean "the unmerited favor of Christ and the deep satisfaction of being consecrated to God." That's what we want them both to have in life.
Best of luck to you! I'd love to know what you decide on and when they're due!
Reply:i would get a book of names and put a full names toghter for 1st and middle names. if it sounds good discuss it with hubby and friends. with darcie you could use lynn, ann.for tia maybe marie, jasmine. get a book and write down their names. if itsounds good use it.
Reply:Tia Marie sounds best I think...Tia Rene, Tia Rose also work well.....Darcie Jane would be good...Darcie Michelle, Darcie MArie as well...and I can't imagine anyone naming a boy Darcie, so I think your safe!
Reply:Tia is a really cute name. Darcie is cute too. If you aren't 100% sure on Darcie then how about:
Tia and Paige
Tia and Macey
Tia and Presley
Tia and Marnie
Tia and Maisy
Tia and Carleigh
Middle names that are cute with Tia and Darcie:
Tia Faith and Darcie Grace
Tia Paige and Darcie Piper
Tia Presley and Darcie Skylar
Tia Kathleen and Darcie Elisabeth
Tia Avery and Darcie Athena
Tia Rose and Darcie Violet
Tia Ann and Darcie Leah
Tia Eve and Darcie Olivia
Hope these help! SD
Reply:Tia Mareah and Darcie Ann these would really be cute names
Reply:This all depends on the type of mother that you are and your preference in names. Do you like traditional names or more modern names? Do you like ethnic names or unisex names? Once you have figured it out, play around a little. I am a little of all that I listed above. I gave my daughter a unisex Name: Kennedy..which is spelled traditionally. Then I went a little modern with Anaya, yet I didn't go ethnic..intentionally. Just do not give them sames that are similar b/c they are twins, they will need their own personalities. Also, be sure to review what their initials will be. No Amanda Simone Smith. In the end, choose the name that will make you proud whenever you speak it..after all, our personalities tend to reflect the individuality of our name.
Reply:just don't go down the route a neighbor of mine did please! Milly and molly! WTF?
Darcie is a girl name in the UK!
Do not put Maria as a second name for Tia!
Just think of old fashioned names as second ones, look back into families names, that is what I did! You Will be surprised at what you find!
Reply:Darcie Leigh (or Lee) is a nice girls name!
Tia Grace is kinda catchy...
Hello world, this is........ Tia Grace and Darcie Leigh ......... I like it.......!!!
Reply:i think you should name darcis middle name anne and tias middle name marie or the other way around :)
Reply:Hi,
We went through this when my girlfriend found out she was expecting twin girls. Here are the favorites (she used the first combo - and I just made up the last just for you)
Hannah Faith -- Sarah Grace
Haley Madison -- Hannah Morgan
Jaden Emliy -- Jordan Elizabeth
Abigail Isabella -- Allison Gabriella
Ava Tia -- Olivia Pia (?)
Reply:I like Tia %26amp; Darcie. (It's good to have names that don't rhyme so it won't be so hard on you in the future!)
Tia...
Rose
Abigail
Charlotte
Margaret
Maureen
Mackenzie/Meckenzie
Lauren
Cheyenne/Cheyanne
Darcie...
Rebekah/Rebecca
Shea/Shay
Marie
Kate/Cate
Kay
Jade
Claire
Elaine
Samantha
Jane/Jayne
I like any combination of these for first names:
Charlotte
Abigail
Isabell/Isabella
Gabriel/Gabriella
Allison
Elizabeth
Anna
Reply:Pick middle names from family members, or none at all. There's no rule that babies have to have a middle name. I don't have one and filling out forms is much quicker.
Reply:If you are settled on Tia and Darcie as first names, then I kind of like..... Tia Kivynlee (KiVinlee), and Darcie Haven.
I am a sucker for unique names, since mine is sooooo common, and that is what I tried to do for my kids, although both of their names are becoming more common in my home town... Kaydence Abigail, and Addison Alanna.
I really like the name Nevaeh(NuVaya), its heaven spelled backwards, with the middle name Jade. I was also crazy for the name Annastasia during my last pregnancy, but my husband wasn't. Annastasia Elizebath, but Anna for short.
Here are some names you could look at if you aren't sure...
Annastasia Elizebath
Jadelynn Raeanne
Neveah Jade
Ava Annaleise
Fiedre(FayDra) Jenaye
Ashlynn Rose
Keirsten Irene
Olivia Marie
Tavian Grace
Hope that this helps, I know how hard it was to name my girls, and I had them one at a time!!! Congrats to you, twins would be so exciting.

I need help with naming my new business. I do lawn work, cleaning ,painting, odd jobs?
Man, I can't top "Lawn Order"! That way, everybody who watches the show will, at some point, think of YOUR business! If you're in some place that's more earthy-crunchy, try some name with zodiac or eco-friendly terms in it. If you're in a more "intellectual" area, like a college town, how about "The Constant Gardener", or "Middle Earth Works". Man...stick with the first one!
Reply:How about " Your other husband "
Reply:There's a guy around here with a catchy name for his business, I called him up as soon as I saw his ad................ "Honey Do"
Reply:My Landscaper....the "my" before the service is becoming popular because the consumer feels, subconsciously , that is is something personal to them. Like myspace, myfox, mytv etc. When a customer tells someone they use My Landscaper and the person asks what the name is they might laugh as they say that it is the name of the company making it more memorable.
Just a thought.

When you're naming organic compounds in chemistry, when is it time to use the word "neo"?
I'm not sure of the rules using this term. And, when you do use it, can you use the letter N to abbreviate it? I'm in my first organic chemistry class, so any illumination on this would be much appreciated. Thanks.
When you're naming organic compounds in chemistry, when is it time to use the word "neo"?
Neo-, as in neopentane, 2,2-dimethylpropane, is not a legitimate name. In the IUPAC system, neo- may be conserved, allowed. My berst advice would be to learn where it is used, but avoid it all else. Do not use letter N to denote neo.
Organic chemical nomenclature is like languages in India. There are official languages like English and Hindi. But if you wantto get around thecountry, you have to learn a little bit about all theother languages spoken there.
Reply:i just dropped my organic chem today. good luck i rather take it in the summer when i do not have any other class to take. seriously i was overloaded with micro, genetics, botany and orgo and orgo had to go. that is where i stopped nomenclature. it is really confusing. email me i had this book that really helped me. i can give you the name of the book

I need help naming a rebellion group after a mythological hero?
Greek, Roman, Celtic, etc....
I don't want it to be something that's obvious or overused, such as Hercules or Achilles.
But I want it to be something that's easy to pronounce for someone that's never seen or heard the name before.
Any suggestions?
I need help naming a rebellion group after a mythological hero?
Prometheus.
Sentenced to an eternity of hardship by the vengeful Zeus for stealing fire from the gods and giving it to man. It's basically the serpent in the Garden of Eden story, but in this version the serpent (Prometheus) is a hero to the people for giving them knowledge and he is effectively martyred by Zeus's actions.
Reply:I would tend to support the Prometheus name as well. Prometheus recognized an injustice by those who were in power (the Gods, under Zeus) and did something about it. However, like Prometheus, your little rebellion may end up by being squashed by the "powers that be", even though you may truly be a hero(s).

In old Norse valkyrie means "chooser of the slain".
In Norse myth those warriors who die bravely in battle are taken by these female mythical beings to Valhalla - to feast there in the hall with Odin in the afterlife.
To Steven,
I don't think you understand the meaning of a 'Phyrric Victory'. It means a struggle which is ruinous for the victor. Phyrrus won a victory but destroyed his own side in the process, so ultimately he lost.

A parent naming his child after some one, is an indication of love and a great compliment for that person?
So why is naming a child's teddy bear, surely its most cherished toy, after Mohammed, a matter of imprisonment, floging and crowds waving machettes and sreaming death?
Is it still politically incorrect to refer to such countries as barbaric?
Why do we not boycott and impose sanctions on such countries?
This event is now passed and we have patched it up, but all the issues remain alive, and will happen again. I remain worried.

ask yourself a couple of questions
1)are you going to holiday, live or work in Sudan?
2)are you going to name your teddy bear Mohammad?
if the answer to either or both of those questions is no, why worry
if anyone else is prepared to go and do the two above things, the the damn fool isn't worth worrying about

Website for naming litters of puppies by number?
My friend was telling me she found a website that had names for puppy litters, all based on numbers, but she lost the link. Some examples were like, two puppies were Bonnie and Clyde, three were the three stooges, and seven could be the seven dwarfs.
My dogs recently had a litter of puppies, and it would be great to find that site again. Does anyone know what it is, or have something like it?

How come these days so many couples are naming their baby girls Urinthra?
I think it is a strange name.
It makes me think of urine, or urethra.
But it was the #9 most popular name last month

How do I do chemical nomenclature, with chemical naming systems? Could you provide one for basic compounds?
I have a final project to do and I need to know how to name acids, polyatomic ions, covalent compounds and such like that. Thank you
How do I do chemical nomenclature, with chemical naming systems? Could you provide one for basic compounds?
Colvalent carbon compounds
prefix
1 carbon meth
2 carbon eth
3 carbon prop
4 carbon but
5 cabpon pent
etc.
suffix
no double bonds ane
one or more double bond ene
one or more triple bond yne
post suffix(??)
alcohol ol
carboxilyic acid oic acid
examples
propanoic acid is 3 carbons with no double bonds and a carboxilic acid group
pentan2-ol is 5 carbons with a alcohol group attach to the 2nd one
2-pentene is 5 carbons with the double bond at the 2nd one
go look up more stuff this is just a start

Another Question! How do you know when to add or not to add a prefix when naming a compound?
please be specific as possible and give examples if you can. i have no idea when or when not to add a prefix or where to add it
Another Question! How do you know when to add or not to add a prefix when naming a compound?
When the compound involves two non-metals, you use prefixes such as monoxide and pentafluoride. In the compound N3O4 it is trinitrogen tetraoxide. But in compounds like NO4 you don't have to add "mono" to the nitrogen.
Reply:prefix when there is a covalent bond. ionic bond = no prefixs

Does anyone have a suggestion for naming a young female collie?
There are two mixed breed collies at a nearby animal shelter and I hope to adopt one. Does anybody have an idea for a name? Thanks.
Does anyone have a suggestion for naming a young female collie?
I just answered on like this... go with the personality of the dog, or the area the dogs came from.... try something to remember her by... nothing cutsie or just quick... I like memorable names... like Hope, Beauty, Life ... or the person who saved her, name her after that.
Reply:When you choose a name for a dog it must be a name that does not sound too much like any of the commands you want to teach the dog. Make a list of all the commands and of different names and compare. Also a two syllable name is better. Say each name, call it out as if you call the dog. If it sounds good and is easy to call, that is ideal. Also consider the meaning of a name.
My own Border Collie's name is Maggie.
Reply:Collie-like names I think are -
Breeze
Fly
Storm
Jed
Whisper
Ace
Astrid
Ripley
I only say those because they remind me of "sheep dogs" throughout the years!! Upto you whether you think they are female names or not. But I agree with the above poster - a name is a very personal choice and one you will use a million times or more. You should wait till you have the dog and see what suits you and her.
Reply:If they are both female :

Should our elected Government officials be forced to wear patches on their sleeves naming all their sponsors?
barney frank and chuck shumer would only have fannie mae and freddie mac. maybe some special interest groups like ACORN, too.

Should our elected Government officials be forced to wear patches on their sleeves naming all their sponsors?
Actually, they shouldn't be allowed to have "sponsors".
Lobbying by special interest groups has gone too far and should be made illegal, since there are seemingly so many loopholes around regulation.

Are there rules in France about naming your child?
I heard that there was a law in France that made it so French parents had to choose their childs name from an approved name list. Is this true? Could you give me a source?
Are there rules in France about naming your child?
Until 1993, all names had to be chosen from an official list. Today, public prosecutors can still reject a child's name.
Reply:This legal rule was valid until the early '90's.. The name had to be found in the catholic liturgical calendar...Now however any name not considered to cause the child to be ridiculed in any way is accepted.. (For example, if your last name were Renault, they would not allow your daughter to be called Megane (a name of one of the car models).
However some fairly ridiculous names are accepted! I know of a child named "Ceegee"...her mother named her after the character in the TV series Baywatch who was called by her initials...C.J. (in french the J is pronounced G).
Also due to immigration all foreign names are now accepted too.
Certain non-french names have become the fashion, for example for boys ENZO is "in"...it is a shortened form of the italian Lorenzo. And JADE, name of the semi-precious stone is also in vogue for girls..
Reply:There are no legal a priori constraints on the choice of names although there were laws in the past that limited that names that could be given to those of Catholic saints.
While there is no longer an official list of allowable names the official registrar of births may take exception to a name and refer it to the local public prosecutor who may choose to refer the matter to the local court. The court may then reject the names. This rarely happens and when it does it is because there is a concern that the name may expose the child to ridicule.
.
Reply:trust me there is no special list for parents to choose their babies' name. you should see what crazy names exist in France! For example Fleur (Flowers) or Myrtille (Blueberry). why do you think of names as crazy as those ones?? (just kidding lol)
good luck
Reply:With all people coming from everyone and living here, you can imagine the bizarre, crazy, special names we can see.
Exemple, my niece (french-algerian) is named Sha茂na, that is unknown here and in Algeria too, and no problems.
I worked in a school for children about 3 to 6 years old and i can say you, 50% of children got unknown names (jeyann, dayan, c茅sar (yes we know it lol), fawaz, ... etc)

I want to start a private investment company. Is their any laws about naming the company?
I was told that I couldn't use the word investments in my business name.
I want to start a private investment company. Is their any laws about naming the company?
Who told you that?
You can call a business US Federal blah blah blah.
You need a disclaimer on everything that your not affiliated with the USG.
All you have to do is register the name with the state you are incorporated in (assuming it is not taken - do a name search - small state fee. See Dept of Corporations or what ever it is called in your state. If you are international, see your regulator).
If you are not a corporation business, then a DBA would be the way to go. I would not advise having a sole proprietorship or joint partnership investment business - waaay too much liability risk (see a corporate attorney).
Note: One can not use a registered trademark for a business name.
example:
Starbux Investments - would prob bring a lawsuit by Starbux.
Big Mac Capital - would prob bring a lawsuit by McDonald's.
Get the idea?
Now, if you are intending to solicit investors, advise people on investments, then you have an entirely different set of questions and regulations to deal with. I've posted them already.
Good Luck!

Any ideas for a non religious naming ceremony?
I am having a non religious naming ceremony for my little girl this weekend. Any ideas for things I can do to make it special. Do you know any non religious readings or music that are baby related. Something the supporting adults could do or say? I have thought of things like fireworks or maybe releasing ballons, perhaps planting a tree? Any other ideas would be much appreciated.
Any ideas for a non religious naming ceremony?

For my son we hired a room somewhere special to us, invited our friends, brought fresh well water to drink and some freshly pressed organic apple juice from a local community. People brought poems and speeches and my friend sang Your children are not your children, they are the sons and the daughters of lifes longing for itself, they come through you but they are not from you and though they are with you they do not belong to you, ..........based on the poem by Khalil Gilbrahd (not sure ive got the spelling right!). Everyone just milled around, chatting, the children ran riot and everyone fussed over the baby. We sat in a circle for anyone to say whatever they wanted to, which turned into a joke telling session by the children. We all brought food to share and toasted our son with the apple juice.
Reply:I am a Baby Naming celebrant specialising in naming ceremonies and naming days. My webpage is www.babynamings.com.au I can email you or anyone else a sample naming ceremony that has lots of suggestions for you. A great song for you to play is "A Little Ray of Sunshine" by Brian Cadd. It is nice to have a release of helium balloons at the end, or a lighting of a naming candle, or planting a tree - all are symbols of the great heights you hope your baby's life will reach. You can still appoint godparents for your child, if you like or call them mentors or life guides etc. Following is a good reading - I have others - you can email me at babynamings@yahoo.com.au
A CHILD LEARNS by Dorothy Law Nolte (can be read by family member, godparent or friend)
If a child lives with criticism
he learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility
he learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule
he learns to be shy.
If a child lives with shame
he learns to feel guilt
BUT,
If a child lives with tolerance
he learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement
he learns confidence.
If a child lives with fairness
he learns justice.
If a child lives with security
he learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval
he learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship
he learns to find love in the world.

What a lovely idea, alot of parents choose traditional ceromonies to please others and show there "doing the right thing" and you've done what you think is best.
Ideas.......
Get the older children and adults to write her a message in a special book, their thoughts and wishes for her future.
There are nice candles which can be personalised on ebay, with a photo of your daughter and a special message, they do small ones which you can order in bulk or larger ones for special family members. This can be a thank you for others helping to arrage the celebration, or just a "party favour" the website is www.ebay.co.uk item no 140146942469 can be changed with any message you wish.
Get a polaroid camera and take photos of the kids and get them to put their names or message on the white part at the bottom and keep as keepsakes for your daughter when she's older.....younger ones can doodle on the back of the photo.
Any more ideas just ask.......got loads!
Reply:Child naming is ceremonial in it self, u only contradict yourself in your request, you are a believer who doesn't know oneself.
If u choose what u decide on eg. planting a tree - u will keep watering that tree to see that it has life to preserve your values "the baby girl" then your region is African Heritage oriented. So whether u are the so called white race, your African origin is strong hold within u.
Reply:i think this is a good idea i wanted to do something like this as it is a way of introducing your new member of your family to everyone.
i think by the fact that everyone is together and celebrating your child is special enough.
if you try to hard it could all go wrong my best plans are keep them simple and then everyone doesn't worry about the protocol.
let off ballons or fire works but just have fun and dont forget to take loads of pictures.

Can anyone help me with naming my orchard?
My husband and I just bought a orchard in Wisconsin and we would like to name it. We have no really good ideas for names. This orchard has apples, plums, cherries and pears and grapes. Thank you.
Can anyone help me with naming my orchard?
We had an orchard in Idaho that my great grandfather began in the late 1800s. During WWII the sons were stationed in Europe and began referring to coming home to Shady Grove.
When the first one, my uncle, got home he constructed a very nice sign that was posted above the entrance gate to the farm. It read, "SHADY GROVE".
The homestead was sold in 1980 and the new owners removed the sign. Shady Grove no longer exists except in memories. Please take the name and make it yours.
Cheers

It would be better if you named it after some one with O or G is the name. Oscar's Orchard or Grandma's Grove for example.

Saying that in the nicest context
or
"Fruit for All"

How do you feel about naming your kids after zodiac signs?
i know some people named virgo, gemini, aries, and libra.
just wanted an opinion?
How do you feel about naming your kids after zodiac signs?
ewww i dont like that idea at all. It just sounds funny with any middle or last name. That is as bad as naming your child after a season, or month it is born. You can go as far as days of the week...its just tacky! I would stay away from naming a child after signs and everything else i listed. It just doesnt sound good
Reply:I think its could be very unique, but maybe better for a middle name instead of a first name.My daughter is born in February and is an Aquarius. I think that would have been a nice middle name. Her birthstone is Amethyst(purple) that would have also been a nice unique middle name.
I'm pregnant with my second and he or she will be born in July and the baby will be a Cancer, and I'm not calling my baby that!LOL
Reply:Well I don't like any of the names above but Leo is a starsign, and that's quite a popular name. I quite like Leo.. however on of my friends hada son called Leo who wasn't born in Leo, so it really wasn't anything to do with the zodiac.
Good Luck :)
Reply:In my opinion its stupid, no offense to anyone else.
But that child has to live with the name you choose for the rest of their lives, or atleast till their 18 and can change it.
Reply:they dont really seem to match the flow of a real name
you could however use them as a middle name, like gemini, its creative
Reply:My opinion is that names like that aren't that nice
Reply:Nah. Not my type. I couldn't imagine running into a Scorpio, Pisces or Sagittarius.
Reply:I like some of them, they are unique but hey I like unusual names my daughter's name is September.
Reply:A bit too sci-fi - don't they call spaceships Gemini and Scorpio and so on?
Reply:No, I would not do that because they would be teased.
Reply:Trashy

What do you think about naming a Forest Preserve encourages?
There is a Forest Preserve in Wisconsin called "BONG National Forest Preserve."
Does this encourage the use of Bongs?

No, it was named after a WWII flying ace named Richard Bong who also received the Medal of Honor and was from Wisconsin. It no more encourages using a bong than it does for people to look up a history.

What do you think of naming kids after celebrities?
well i dont agree on naming them after a celeb but if the parents just like the name (which happens to be the same as a celebs) then thats ok.
i mean there are thousands of Nicole's but not many of them are named after Nicole Richie
Reply:I think it's fine for most celebrity names but not so for others. The likes of Shiloh and Vivienne(Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughters), names are very pretty and you could understand why someone would want to use those names. However names like Apple and Moses(Gwyneth Paltrow's kids), aren't names that you would really want to use unless you have a"Unique" taste.
I agree with you also on Dominica Mercury that is a really great name :)
Reply:there are so many names that can cause trouble down the road. nicknames, initials, weird combos, all can cause a chid to endure name calling and harrassment later in life. why give kids at school ammo to use against your child.
just keep in your mind " would i have liked to go through life with that name and would i have picked on a kid with that name? '
good luck
Reply:I think it can be cool if it's a really classy original name and someone who is a good role model and person. Definitly not Paris or anything but Audrey is really cute and a good name.

I know a little girl with the middle name Sooner... Yeah her parents are big time OU fans too...

What is the history of naming swords in King Arthur's period?
King Arthur had Excalibur, and Beowulf [from germanic myth] had multiple swords, all specifically named something or another. Is there any particular reason for this ritual?
What is the history of naming swords in King Arthur's period?
The general belief was that names held power and that by naming your weapon "voracious" (a rough translation of the word "excalibur" from the old gaelic for "hard-belly") you actually made it become voracious, as opposed to that old plain sword you found laying about and use to chop firewood. It's even evident in more modern literature. In Tolkien's novels all the swords have names that translate to things like "Biter" or "Flame" or "Foe-Hammer" (Granted he based a lot of his mythology on pre-existing mythologies like "Beowulf"). Basically, what it boils down to is a sword is just a bit of sharp metal, but a sword with a name has character and personality and therefore power. It's sort of like naming your car - it becomes more animate, more human. It's no longer a hunk of metal that you use for transportation. Would you rather fight some crazy people bent on your death with a regular old sword, or with you trusty friend "Foe-Hammer" helping you out? We know which one the legends prefer!
Another logical argument would be that germanic peoples are fond of names - riddle games or "kennings" where the name of something points to something else. For example "Beowulf" literally translates to "bee-wolf" which is a riddle or kenning for "Bear", so "Beowulf" really means bear. They are common poetic devices in nordic myth and poetry. There are over 450 known kennings for swords, over 1000 for warrior and almost 800 for battle. Kennings can be purely descriptive, such as naming a sword "harmer of shields", or they can compare past events to the event of the story, or include other mythologys and refrences.
Hope that helps!
Reply:So you can refer to them and tell them apart.
Also a person who makes a certain sword is proud of it and names it. I have a sword named Poindexter.
Reply:check out www.wikipedia.com on King Arther
Reply:Don't forget as well that swords and the metal in them were really really expensive and an important part of their adult lives. What is your cars name? Some people still name their houses. These are the types of price range we are comparitively talking about.

I need help naming my future bichon frise?
I'm asking my family for bichon frise for my birthday, and I think they might get me one. But I don't know what to name one. I think my mom would perfer getting a female dog but a few male names would be helpful too. I want a cute name but not one too girly, plus I want a somewhat original name. I don't want a name that everyone names there dog.
I need help naming my future bichon frise?
I understand your request for originality in a name. In addition to that, the anticipation of a new puppy. I think you should wait to see your new "baby" and name her based on your first impression of him/her. If you are still stuck w/o a name then post a picture and maybe you will get some good suggestions. Good Luck.
Reply:Choosing a breed? No problem. Deciding whether to get a puppy or adult dog? Piece of cake. So now comes the hard part: coming up with a name.
Serious or silly, evocative or ironic--whatever you decide to christen your dog, it better be something you're comfortable both printing on veterinary forms as well as yelling at the top of your lungs from the other side of the park.

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is bliss, taste it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.

how you live it,
what you take from it,
how much you give back,
a joy and a heartbreak,
doing the best with what you have,
loving with all of your heart,
treating all forms of it with respect,
and a wondrous beautiful mystery-C.Yost

How long before you hear of someone naming their kid Felon?
LOL if it weren't already associated with a long criminal record it would actually be kind of cute. It's really close to Fallon, which is a great name. I would seriously wonder about the mental state of the parents, but it would probably be a celebrity because 1/2 of them give their kids the most retarded names.

Naming the product of simple ionic compounds?
I am doing homework
We have to combine (not litterally) elements like Lithium and Oxygen.
The question is "Classify each reaction ( Formula, Hydra Carbon Combustion, Double or Single Replacement) and write the formula of each product or products"
The first one is Li + O2
I'm terrible at chem.
How do I decide what the little number at the bottom right will be?
Naming the product of simple ionic compounds?
It would be Li2O, and it would be a combustion. Any time O2 is a reactant, it's a combustion reaction.
Reply:No, no, no. Li has a charge of +1, O a charge of minus one, so the product will be Li20. Then, to balance the equation it would be 2Li + O2 yields 2Li20
Reply:i'm not sure how to classify it, but i think the product of Li + O2 would be Li4O2. The charge on one Li is +1, and the charge on one O is -2. 2 Oxygen have a charge of -4, so to balance that you need 4 positive charges, hence 4 Lithium ions. Group1 elements are +1, Group 2 are +2

What if you were wrong in naming someone the father?
Long story short I had a child with high school sweetheart and we broke up during the time we were apart I went back to an old boyfriend a month later my sweet heart and I were back together and I was pregnant. I told both men that there was a chance they were both dads, my sweetheart and I got married and the x heard, he was not about to rain on our parade and my sweetheart was able and willing to raise the baby...We did together and nothing ever became of things until now. My son is 11 and I want to know for sure.
What if you were wrong in naming someone the father?
Why? I think the person who was there for your child, the one who loved him, and took care of him should be the one considered his father.

Reply:If it's a matter of you wanting to know and nobody else cares...then I would call this one of those instances where you are about to throw a rock from inside your glass house. Ultimately all you will find out that is different from what is....is bad news.
You son knows your husband as his father, and there is a relationship there. Your ex doesn't care, for whatever reason. By finding out the he is the father is and can only cause dissention by your current husband or problems from your ex.
First, you will need everyone to submit DNA for the paternity test. That means contacting your exboyfriend, who isn't obligated to give you DNA (and he won't if he thinks you're going after support). Your husband will also have to give DNA, which might cause him to question your motives...as he's been a good husband/father.
This is something best left alone, at least for now. Nothing good will come from it. Even if your husband is the father...he will always wonder why you wanted to know for sure.

Who legally gets final say when naming a baby?
Just curious. If a married couple has a child and will not agree on a name. Who legally gets the final say when it comes to naming the baby? The mother or the father?
Who legally gets final say when naming a baby?
In many states, the father is not even required to sign the birth certificate giving the mother the ultimate authority to name the baby.

Reply:I like those names but normally I don't support it because all celebrity's will be forgotten and there not normally people to look up to
Reply:Whatever floats the parent's boat I suppose. Just so long as it ain't one of those out there names, lol.
I know a little girl with the middle name Sooner... Yeah her parents are big time OU fans too...

thats so lame

Can you take a newborn baby home from the hospital without naming it?
My baby girl is due in 3 weeks and I still don't have a name for her. Will they let me take her home without giving her a name? And do you have any suggestions for baby girl names?
Can you take a newborn baby home from the hospital without naming it?
Yes you can, the birth certificate will read Baby Girl for the first name. You have to get the certificate amended (which costs money) when you change it though ($50 in Iowa, varies by state or county probably)
Reply:I believe you can take the baby home without a name.
A good girls name is Katelyn. Thats my daughters name
Reply:I was worried about this also, but the moment I had my daughter, I knew what to name her.

Do you have a relative whom you care for and whose name you like?
Reply:Yes, but it's a pain in the **** to do it once you leave the hospital. I really like the name Abby. I also like Gianna.
Reply:You most certainly can. 23 years ago I took my son home and he was not named until he was 8 weeks old, as we wanted our parents to have an input ( they were flying out from overseas). I believe you have 6 months to choose a name in Australia, but other countries have different rules/laws to this. Best to look it up if in doubt.
My son was named Nis in the end. It is pronounced Like "Miss" just with an N and a single S of cause, and it is a southern Danish abbreviation to the Danish Niels, or English Neil.
Reply:Yes you can. My baby came 3 weeks early and we hadn't picked out a middle name when she was born. We were there for a few days so we came up with one but if you don't come up with one by the time you leave they will tell you who to contact and what to do. I do know that it is a lot easier if you do have one picked out at the hospital, but if all else fails and you don't have one don't worry you can always decide later.
Reply:Depends upon where you live, but most of the time you can leave without naming.

Reply:as others have said - it depends on the laws where you live %26amp; how long you have to register the birth with the appropriate authorities.
I have 4 children - 1st wasn't named for 2 days , 2nd we had a boys name chosen BUT not a girls ; husband chose her name when she was born - I chose spelling of it though - to fit in with my name (( Loryn ) %26amp; hers is (Kristyn)

When my daughter was pregnant with her 1st she was going through names %26amp; got kicks from the baby when she said a particular name - so that was what was chosen for him ( they didn't know the sex of the baby till he was born
Reply:The time you are given to name your child varies depending on where you live. I would suggest you try to decide on a name before she is born - you'll be so busy with a newborn, it will be hard to think of much else! You probably don't want to put a name on the birth certificate when you're sleep - deprived and not thinking clearly. Try sites like babynames.com or ask friends and relatives for suggestions.
Some of the names Hubby and I liked were:
Maddeline
Ailish (Pronounced Ay - lish)
Leia (yes, like Princess Leia)
Olivia (after my sister, who carried the name well before it became popular)

Reply:I think it depends on the state you're in.
We finally narrowed down names for our last baby while I was in labor. The nurses were on us about her name as soon as she was born and mentioned that they really prefer the baby be named- in the state we reside in- before they discharge you. Well fortunately we just needed to spend the day with her before knowing her name for certain. Or rather, she sort of decided it for herself , as one just ...fit:) She was born on a Thursday and we did not tell *anyone* else her name until the following Friday evening when there was a formal naming in the synagogue. But that's just what we do.

What do you do when you've already used up all the letters in the alphabet when it comes to naming points?
When you're naming points (in geometry) in lines, radiuses, lign segments or planes and you've already used up all the letters in the alphabet (you have more than 27 points) then what do you name them as? Point AA? Or what?
What do you do when you've already used up all the letters in the alphabet when it comes to naming points?
I don't think I have ever come to that point but if I did I would just add numbers to the letters, as we normally do in geometry. A1, v6758 and soo on
This does not necessarily mean that it has to be connected with A or v
Reply:the general convention is to use what is known as a prime. so after going through the first set of letters one would go to A' (called A prime) and then B' and C' etc. after this is completed we would use another dash referred to a double prime e.g. A'' and so on.
In computer deisgn software, it is very common to have thousands of reference points in which case each reference point is given a number

Why is the Greek and Latin language used for scientific naming?
a. There are more descriptive words available.
b.The languages are not currently being used and do not change.
c. The words are more easily understood.
d. Aristotle was a Greek philosopher and used his language.
THANK YOU!
Why is the Greek and Latin language used for scientific naming?
Did you answer your own question just there?
Another reason could be that Latin was (and is) a universal language that doesn't discriminate as far as people being able to understand it. For example, until quite recently I think there was a square in Paris whose official language was Latin because so many different languages were spoken there.
Also Greek and Latin are older languages and those metals used in science were discovered and named by people who spoke those languages (I'm thinking about gold, silver, lead etc)
xx A
Reply:Latin used to be the language that all educated people had in common, especially when it came to writing. If two scholars, each from different countries, wanted to correspond, they did so in Latin. When people started giving names to plants, minerals and so on, it was used because everyone could understand it. Latin is the basis for much of English, French, Spanish and of course Italian. I have never learned Spanish or Italian but did take Latin, and I can read most simple Spanish or Italian because of knowing some Latin.

Mother Teresa
Life is
the only chance you get,
how you live it,
what you take from it,
how much you give back,
a joy and a heartbreak,
doing the best with what you have,
loving with all of your heart,
treating all forms of it with respect,
and a wondrous beautiful mystery-C.Yost
The song: Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder - it's about his daughter being born
lyrics:
Isnt she lovely
Isnt she wonderfull
Isnt she precious

(sounds like today and tomorrow) I thought that was really cool until I got pregnant with twin girls of my own! Of course my husband wouldn't go for that so we named them Makayla and Makenzie.

Is naming a game company after a song stealing?
I am playing a game for one of my classes. We had to name a company and I named it after a song I really liked. Is that stealing or plagarism?
Is naming a game company after a song stealing?
I think it depends on how unique and distinctive the name of the song is. If the song is something general like a single word, or two words, it shouldn't be a problem.
Reply:I believe it would be called copy right infringement.
Reply:Well technically I think it is but as long as you don't make profit or use it for advertisement your fine :P
Reply:no. just like having a song with the same name is not,
Reply:I don't believe so, I mean there are only a certain number of combinations that can be made with the words in the english language, and....
I think it's unfair, or that it'd be unfair, that once a song title has been declared, those words be off limits forever.
Reply:Yes. There is a burger place near where I live that was called "Cheeseburger in Paradise". Jimmy Buffet the original song writer sued for the use of his song title. So the answer to your question is a definite YES.

When god gave Adam the task of naming all the creatures of the earth?
Did he provide Adam with scuba gear?
When god gave Adam the task of naming all the creatures of the earth?
God was quite capable of allowing Adam to see every creature that He had created, regardless of whether some were in the bottom of the ocean. A mighty God can do things which we simply cannot fathom.
Reply:He let me borrow it. But really, I used it for the summer, shove it my closet and forgot about it after a few centuries. He know's he's not seeing it again till judgement day! When he bugs me about it, I just say "Hey man... me, your image... you're fighting yourself on this one. Catch you later bro."
So god can do anything? Then why can't he get his son to call his mother everyone once in a while on the weekend, it's not like he's doing anything on Sundays!
Reply:there is no god, never was and no one can prove me wrong ( except god if he/she existed)
Reply:well, doesnt Man still name animals today? And don't all men come from Adam?
So he didn't have to have scuba gear because we have it. :)
Reply:he didn't. adam was the man who fell in love with eve not naming animals. ahahah...funny huh.
Reply:no

Does the origin come into play when naming your baby?
I have a question, and it's obvious that I haven't named anybody before. When you decide the name for your kid, does it have to be the origin of your last name? Obviously, some people have a Spanish first name but a Irish last name.
Just wondering if the origin of the name ever comes into play when deciding this, or if you can name the first name freely without worrying about origins. I guess this goes for middle names too.
Thanks!
Does the origin come into play when naming your baby?
It does not have to be the origin of your last name. Most people choose a name because they like the way it sounds. Others choose it for its meaning and still others do choose a name because of its origin.
Basically, you "can name freely."
Reply:I think that for the most part people name their children by what they like the best, sometimes people do think about the orgin of the name, but I dont think it matters unless it means something to you to name your baby with a name that is the same orgin as the last name.
Reply:I picked the name I liked with no thought to origin
Reply:anything goes except for the husbands last name ....keeping this assures you %26amp; your family from not getting lost in the family tree etc..
Reply:You can name a baby Rodriguez McKenzie if you want to...they are a little weird....But there no rule that says you hace to stick with names like Molly or Bryce---which sound more McKenzie-ish than Rodriguez. I ran across one of these the other day. I wish I could remember who it was because it was funny.
Reply:It doesn't HAVE to be. However, a really ethnic sounding family name doesn't usually go so well with a really ethnic sounding name from another culture. It ends up sounding odd.
The interesting thing is that most names of Great Britain origin and not considered very ethnic in USA and Canada. That's becasue of the immigration history. Similarly, a lot of western European names (German, Swedish, Italian, etc.) aren't seen as all that ethnic sounding either. Same reason.
But if we get into Middle Eastern names, or Asian names, or African names, or Eastern European names, these are less familiar to us and end up seeming more ethnic sounding.
Reply:I think for majority of people it doesn't matter. Some wish to honour their background, and some have to name for religious reasons. In my case my daughter's name is Hebrew. But her last name is French. Her father is French Canadian and Hungarian. I am Polish/German/English and Irish. So, her name was what we liked and what sounded right to us. :)
Good question!
Reply:Nope, but some combos sounds dumb.
I didn't want my kid to have a name that sounded like his parents couldn't agree.
Also, different groups have different traditions. Irish Catholics usually have Irish names, and often name for saints. Jews tend to have Jewish names and name for their deceased relatives....
Reply:This is a personal preference.
For us, the origin of our boys names WAS important...to my husband :) lol My husband is from Scotland and is VERY proud of his heritage. But a lot of people just pick a name they like.
