Is "Pics" a professional word to use in naming a photography business?

I am trying to pick a name for my photography business, and i have had my mind set on Lizz' Pics, but i am not sure if that is professional or not. I am not wanting to use the traditional _________ photography or photography by _______.

Please let me know what you are thinking, or some suggestions on some creative names.

Is "Pics" a professional word to use in naming a photography business?
All's fair in advertising and marketing. To answer your question, it depends on who your audience is. There are professional studios that cater to teens that do stuff like sticky pics and group shots that teens like to take with crazy bright backgrounds. In that case, and possibly in others, "Pics" may be appropriate.

When you use a traditional, professional photography name, sometimes people think they won't be able to afford it.

However, I'd also caution that you don't undersell your talent, professionalism or price points by using too casual a name. If you can teeter that fine line, your results may be very profitable indeed.

You also asked for some suggestions. How bout something with "studio" -- like "Studio Lizz" or "(your last name) Studio", etc.

Good luck.
Reply:Lizz's pics or Lizzie's pics. I like it. I called mine Fotoshop Alberta. Well, this week anyhow! :)
Reply:I don't think I would use it. It sounds really young and internet-y- not very serious.
Reply:Sounds to me like a source for amateur snapshots, sorry. I would think concentrating on words like "portrait" and "artistic" would be better. In fact if you can pull off the title of "Professional Photographic Portraiture Artist" with a straight face, you could build a business just on that.

You kind of have to know what you're doing, of course.
Reply:In a conventional sense, no it probably isnt professional. However that said, what type of client are you targeting? If you are catering to more mainstream 'average joe' types of client then 'pics' would probably be quite acceptable, even catchy. If you are targeting formal occasions it might come across as too informal.

I can see your dilemma, if you go too formal or too informal you could risk alienating potential customers.

I personally like your idea for a name, adds a personal touch.
Reply:No, putting "pics" in your title really isn't all that professional.

My company is K.Bish Photography, you can try something like that. If you are looking for more creative, try thinking about adjectives used to describe your pictures, or how you feel when looking at them, or just try to describe how the picture is, i.e: infinite reflections, memories, captured image..

good luck! :)
