How do I stop my sister naming her son Ulysses?

I feel like I should protect my new little nephew as this is a form of child abuse! He will be picked on for his whole life!!

How do I stop my sister naming her son Ulysses?
Personally, I do not like the name, but it's you sister's baby and you can't stop her. You could suggest other names, and if she likes them-good. If she doesn't, then just leave it-let her call him whatever she wants.
Reply:Basically convince her that other names are better, and that children get teased by their names and initials and she will regret her decision when he's upset and she has to explain to him why she named him that. Help her pick more well thought out names. P.S. Your doing a good thing by asking her to reconsider! GoodLuck

Obviously not many people know how cruel little kids are, and adults are when they meet children. I work at a summer camp every summer and meet hundreds of children and the ones that have the different and unusual names are the outcasts and the other counselors/coaches take notice of the children's names and know when the child is being picked on. The simplest thing such as a name can make or break a child's confindence.
Reply:FYI... The kid will probably not be picked on, in this day and age originality is valued, not condemned. People are finally starting to look up to those that are not the same cookie cutter of everybody else. I say good job to your sister!

My son is named D'Artagnan, nobody picks on him, they like his name.
Reply:i know what you mean but just say that to her be like i that maybe he would got made fun of for that name maybe you should pick something a little different
Reply:lol, you are so right, older names can gain popularity but I can't wrap my mind around that one, lmao. Just keep throwing names at her and hopefully she will find a better one.
Reply:Why not just mind your own buisness? It is after all, your sisters baby. And Ulysses isn't really that bad of a name, there are worse.
Reply:Why would he be picked on? His name is a strong masculine name that has a legacy that comes with it.
Reply:Well his middle name could be used as a nickname. A guy at my church is named David but goes by his middle name Paul.
Reply:it is her child not yours have your own or addopt and name them whatever you want, stop trying to be a control freak
Reply:can you think of something else she might like?

It might be an idea, but hey at least its not Shooter, Shepherd, or Pirate!
Reply:Not your kid, not your business*
Reply:I know two people with that name. I think it is nice and portrays a strong confident man.
Reply:just keep giving her other options
Reply:What makes you think so?
Reply:It's a decent name. What don't you like about it?
