Jeez folks have you NO imagination or decision making skills? It comes across as helpless and needy although I'm sure it isn't intended that way.
Why do so many people need help naming dogs?
I think a dog's name should MEAN something to you. When people ask how you chose your dog's name do you really want to say "I got it off the internet"?
I named my dog Kennedy.
I like 3 syllable names.
I am a Canadian living in the states and I wanted him to have an 'american' name when I got home. So I looked at president's names, historic US kinda things, and decided "Kennedy" suits him to a 't'. I also like dog names ending in 'y/i' even more perfect.
His name means something to me and suits him= wasn't chosen by random strangers who don't know him.
Reply:I, too, have found this question a rather childish one.
I don't think they have an imagination. Nor any decision making skills as you said.
Naming a dog I usually watch them for a few days to a week so that they get a name that matches their dognality (personality). I have changed the name of some cause the name did not fit.
I think that it is mostly the little kids that ask this question. I usually just skip over the childish stuff %26amp; focus on people that actually have problems they need help with.
It is anoying but children must play.
Reply:They do it because those kind of questions come with a lot of answers.
Reply:If they just did a search on YA, a person could read thousands of answers to their question, and they wouldn't do the deja-vu thing to folks who frequent this forum.
Reply:For me it is just part of the brainstorming. It is doubtful I will actually use one of the names suggested, but they will help get me thinking about names I do like.
Reply:some people find it hard to decide because there are SOOOOO many.
Reply:I think, they don't really want dog's name from us. They just want to share their excitement.
Reply:I can name my pets just fine but I like to hear other peoples opinions. Who knows maybe they might be able to think up a name 10X better than the one you had in mind?
Reply:Maybe they are just seeing how names are perceived by other people. Or what names are popular. I dont know.
Reply:Hmm === sometimes people just need suggestions to follow what is in their hearts...
Reply:i don't no, i've alway's picked my animal's name's out. maybe they think other people might have some different one's.
Reply:there's so many names. and they're just seeing if there's anything out there that they hadn't thought of
Reply:A dogs name is important, your goign to have that dog for the next 10-15 years so it's important you pick out a name you like. Also, something people should consider when asking for dogs names is not only do think it's a cool name and like it but certain dogs names are better than others. I don't have allt he info on this but dogs hear certain sylables better than others so in terms of your dog learning his own name adn being able to hear adn identify it a name with a short word adn sharp sounds like Spike or Butch is easier for a dog to hear adn recognize than a longer name with soft sounds like Mary Lou or something like that.
Reply:I think it's just fun for them to talk about because they're excited about their new dog. If it bothers you, you don't have to read those questions.
