Legality of naming people who owe money?

I've been invited to a group on facebook who is threatening to write the names of people who owed money to them. They are planning on giving these names over the Internet. I believe this to be illegal is it? What law are they breaking?

Said people have gone out of business because of it and are now threatening to expose them unless they pay what they owe.

Legality of naming people who owe money?
I can't see anything illegal about that apart from libel if they're lying about it or people think they're talking about someone else.
Reply:well the people should know to pay up when the time cums. plus the 1st amendment freedom of speech so not much you can do and they can just be lie-ing so what ever if you think it is wrong you can protest.
Reply:If people owe you money, to name and shame might be a good idea, but if they then paid, would you have to say so and remove them from the site?

Don't know if it's illegal, but would facebook allow a group to do this if it was.

Would be interested to know the name of the group and how they get on.
Reply:UK....they don't have a 'freedom of ' thing, right?

I would look up liable and/or slander laws. Of course over here (USA) if it's true, it's not considered slander per say.
