What is the 'naming process' for H2CO3 being called Carbonic acid?

Is this just another one I have to have memorized? Or is there a naming procedure I am forgetting?

If the polyatomic ion ends in ate, the acid ends in ic. For example,H3PO4, PO4 3- is the phosphate ion, so the acid would be phosphoric acid. Also if the ion ends in ite, the acid ends in ous, like with SO3 and sulfurious acid.
