Why is Citigroup still allowed to pay 4 naming rights when being bailed out by the government @ the same time?

The government bails out Citicorp, yet they still are paying $20 million a year for naming rights to the Mets stadium so upper echelon rich guys from the company can sit in nice seats. People have lost their jobs. Why is no one complaining about this? How is this being allowed? It's seems odd something so disturbingly wrong is pretty much going on without any hubaloo from the general public.

How can this be?

Why is Citigroup still allowed to pay 4 naming rights when being bailed out by the government @ the same time?
Great point. The Mets should let them out of this agreement and the Government should intervene to put this contract to rest. This is absurd. Best QUESTION of the YEAR.
Reply:I keep wondering when the big time sports machine is going to crack. NASCAR is worried right now, and with good reason. All of those sponsors might not have the cash to keep those cars rolling. We haven't been in serious economic trouble for a long time, and we really don't understand how bloated our whole lifestyle really is.

I have never been a fan of corporations naming games or stadiums. It seems like when the citizens pay for construction, they should have to be advertised to.
Reply:They are contractually obligated to pay theses fees so your premise is absurd. Why should the other party be harmed? If the government had sent them to bankruptcy, then perhaps that would be a different matter. Rules are different under bankruptcy.
Reply:The deal was likley in place before any of this happend. The money has to be paid out contractually.
Reply:It isn't right...we are technically paying for this! I think we should be able to have those nice box seats for free now!! LOL
Reply:that agreement was reached years ago, and they might not be able to opt out of their agreement.

I'm not sure, just making a guess
