My baby girl is due in 3 weeks and I still don't have a name for her. Will they let me take her home without giving her a name? And do you have any suggestions for baby girl names?
Can you take a newborn baby home from the hospital without naming it?
Yes you can, the birth certificate will read Baby Girl for the first name. You have to get the certificate amended (which costs money) when you change it though ($50 in Iowa, varies by state or county probably)
Reply:I believe you can take the baby home without a name.
A good girls name is Katelyn. Thats my daughters name
Reply:I was worried about this also, but the moment I had my daughter, I knew what to name her.
Mom of:
Spencer
Adam
Lily
Sara
Reply:You actually can, but something my mom said she had was always having this problem with all 3 pregnancies, but as soon as she saw us, she knew exactly what she wanted to name us!!! Good Luck though!
Reply:I took my little girl home without a name. But you have to amend the birth certificate to add her name.
Madysen
Parker
Montana
Morgan
Lily
Catherine
Mary
Do you have a relative whom you care for and whose name you like?
Reply:Yes, but it's a pain in the **** to do it once you leave the hospital. I really like the name Abby. I also like Gianna.
Reply:You most certainly can. 23 years ago I took my son home and he was not named until he was 8 weeks old, as we wanted our parents to have an input ( they were flying out from overseas). I believe you have 6 months to choose a name in Australia, but other countries have different rules/laws to this. Best to look it up if in doubt.
My son was named Nis in the end. It is pronounced Like "Miss" just with an N and a single S of cause, and it is a southern Danish abbreviation to the Danish Niels, or English Neil.
Reply:Yes you can. My baby came 3 weeks early and we hadn't picked out a middle name when she was born. We were there for a few days so we came up with one but if you don't come up with one by the time you leave they will tell you who to contact and what to do. I do know that it is a lot easier if you do have one picked out at the hospital, but if all else fails and you don't have one don't worry you can always decide later.
Reply:Depends upon where you live, but most of the time you can leave without naming.
Some names that I really like...
Ava Brynn
Jade Adeline
Kaelin Rose
Kiauna Lee
Olivia Renee
Reply:come on!! hurry up and think of one!, name her ashley
Reply:You would have to check the laws ,in some states yes. I know it can be hard to pick a name but dont bring her home nameless thats so sad . When she is born the 1st thing the nurse says is whats her name ?
Name her Jewel... she is going to be your little treasure.

Do you like Christine? is is almost Christmas, too corny? how about Noel? my girls are Jenna and Kellee. I love the name katie..... sounds so sweet.
good luck i am sure you will find a great name!
Reply:Yes, becase even when I was in the hospital they did't have a name so they just put baby boy. Yeah,I waited until I could figure out a unique way to name him. Most of the time they should let you go, your not entitled to name him before you take him home. Congradualtions!!!
Reply:as others have said - it depends on the laws where you live %26amp; how long you have to register the birth with the appropriate authorities.
I have 4 children - 1st wasn't named for 2 days , 2nd we had a boys name chosen BUT not a girls ; husband chose her name when she was born - I chose spelling of it though - to fit in with my name (( Loryn ) %26amp; hers is (Kristyn)
look through baby name books ; search the net ;
When my daughter was pregnant with her 1st she was going through names %26amp; got kicks from the baby when she said a particular name - so that was what was chosen for him ( they didn't know the sex of the baby till he was born
Reply:The time you are given to name your child varies depending on where you live. I would suggest you try to decide on a name before she is born - you'll be so busy with a newborn, it will be hard to think of much else! You probably don't want to put a name on the birth certificate when you're sleep - deprived and not thinking clearly. Try sites like babynames.com or ask friends and relatives for suggestions.
Some of the names Hubby and I liked were:
Maddeline
Ailish (Pronounced Ay - lish)
Leia (yes, like Princess Leia)
Olivia (after my sister, who carried the name well before it became popular)
A friend of mine just had a baby named Aliyah Mae - to be honest, it's not one I'd pick, but I still think it's really pretty.
Good luck and congratulations!
Reply:you have about a month in which to lodge a birth certificate so you could take baby home without a name and see what her personality tells you.
good luck.
i have lydia marie and madison rose
i love jessica and kaylee
have fun naming your baby
Reply:I think it depends on the state you're in.
We finally narrowed down names for our last baby while I was in labor. The nurses were on us about her name as soon as she was born and mentioned that they really prefer the baby be named- in the state we reside in- before they discharge you. Well fortunately we just needed to spend the day with her before knowing her name for certain. Or rather, she sort of decided it for herself , as one just ...fit:) She was born on a Thursday and we did not tell *anyone* else her name until the following Friday evening when there was a formal naming in the synagogue. But that's just what we do.
