What should I name my other twin if I am naming one Charlotte?

My other children are Samantha and Robert, and I don't know what to name my other twin daughter. I want to name one of them Charlotte.

What should I name my other twin if I am naming one Charlotte?

Reply:I love your taste in names. (Charlotte and Robert are on my favorite name lists, as well.)

If you want the twin names to have a subtle connection, here are a few ideas:

Charlotte and Caroline (both feminine forms of Charles, but they don't sound too similar at all)

Charlotte and Clara (both very sweet and classic; same beginning letter, but different sound)

Charlotte and Celia/Cecelia (both very old-fashioned; same beginning letter, but different sound)

Charlotte and Amalie (Charlotte Amalie is the capital of the U.S. Virgin Islands)

Charlotte and Maria/Mariah (They were sisters in Pride and Prejudice; apparently Maria was pronounced like Mariah in Georgian England, at least according to my 12th grade English teacher.)

Charlotte and Anne or Emily (These were the names of the three Bronte sisters.)

Charlotte and Beatrix (after famous authors Charlotte Bronte and Beatrix Potter)

Charlotte and Jane (after famous authors Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen)

Charlotte and Louisa (after famous authors Charlotte Bronte and Louisa May Alcott)

Charlotte will sound good with any old-fashioned classic name. Here are some other ideas, most gleaned from the pages of 19th-century literature:

Charlotte and Eliza

Charlotte and Beatrice

Charlotte and Rosalind

Charlotte and Jane

Charlotte and Elizabeth

Charlotte and Lydia

Charlotte and Alice

Charlotte and Mary

Charlotte and Lucy

Charlotte and Amelia

Charlotte and Rebecca

Charlotte and Josephine

Charlotte and Adele

Charlotte and Katherine

Charlotte and Emma (though Emma's very common now)

Charlotte and Susannah

Charlotte and Eleanor

Charlotte and Marianne

Charlotte and Miriam

Charlotte and Stella

Charlotte and Helen

Charlotte and Georgina

Charlotte and Victoria

Charlotte and Rose

Charlotte and Lilian

Charlotte and Evelyn

I would avoid any names that end in the -t sound, like Margaret, Juliet, or Violet -- although they coordinate in style, the pairs tend to sound a bit too "matchy."

Congratulations, and I hope this helps!
Reply:You should name the other twin EMILY. As in, like, the Bronte sisters, Emily Bronte and Charlotte Bronte, who wrote a bunch of Victorian era literature in England.

One of them, I forget which one, wrote Wuthering Heights, which I've never read, but I skimmed over the Cliff Notes for 10th grade English. From what I can tell, it seemed to be a good book.
Reply:Louisa, Augusta, Sophia, Eleanor, Claire, Jane, Audrey, Alouisse, Daniela, Fortunata, Helena, Victoria, Katerina, Annie, Anneliese (pronounced Ahnn-e-lee-seh), Catherine (not w/ a K), Maerlow, Caroline

%26amp; Jos茅phine like Napoleon's Jos茅phine de Beauharnais

NOT Amelia, I hat that name (it's mine, plz don't curse another poor child)
Reply:Those are very nice names, classic while still being beautiful. The first name that came to my mind was Lucy, which I think goes well with your other children's names. Lillian and Abigail both go nicely as well.

EDIT: I really like trendypinoy11's idea of naming the other twin Emily, after the Bronte sisters! That's something interesting they can say about where their names came from!
