What are your thoughts on naming a baby girl Israel?

I have never researched this name before last night, I was praying and that name just came to me I have never heard of anyone named Israel. I am not pregnant but I felt that I was leaning towards that name for a baby girl.

What are your thoughts on naming a baby girl Israel?
It's a name for a very strong child. I like it--when she got older she would understand why you gave her the name. The only thing is, it's not very feminine, it's sort of gender neutral.

Maybe--you could give her a cute middle name and she could use that as a nickname?

Reply:It's fine for a boy but not for a girl.
Reply:It's ok.
Reply:I knew a guy named Israel. He was nice. :) I think, as long as you don't name your child something stupid after a fruit, mode of transportation, or a website, I think you're doing just fine. Good luck!!!
Reply:i think thats nice!
Reply:I think it's beautiful and if you got it from praying, then it may be a sign. I think it sounds better for a girl than a boy, but I've never heard it used before.

Be prepared, some may ask for a reason WHY you picked that name...
Reply:There are plenty of people named Israel except they are all boys (and Jewish).
Reply:I've never heard that name on a girl before, only on boys. But, if it came to you by prayer, then take it as a special sign, and give your future baby that name, whether you have a girl or a boy.

JMHO
Reply:even though its a name from the bible its still a boy name
Reply:I think of a boy's name.

Reply:well its odd but its so adorable i love it
Reply:dont
Reply:I think that Israel is a beautiful name for a girl! You have really good taste!!
Reply:I think that name is for a boy, but name your baby (when you get pregnant what ever you and your husband want to name her.
Reply:You know, since it came up in a prayer, perhaps its best to name your baby that way becaus God tells you its ideal. Kinda like Gabriel the angel tells Mary that she will have a son and will name him Emanuel.
