Which is most important to you when naming a child?

-Uniqueness: making sure the name will stand out

-Popularity: if many other children will have this name

-Meaning: the explanation of what the name means

-Origin: picking a name that derives from your family's country

-Acceptabilty: will the name be suitable for the parents and that's all that matters

'You can pick more than one.

Which is most important to you when naming a child?
Firstly, meaning! Whether it means something beautiful like Sean(God's gracious gift) or it means something to me, for example I'd like to name a daughter after a good friend of mine who passed away a few years ago.

Popularity matters, because if a name is too popular, like Aiden, it would make my child Aiden #8 in his class... How special!

Acceptability is also important, because a child must not feel like he/she is being pushed away by society because of an outrageous name!

Origin, to me, is only a matter of interest.

Uniqueness - as long as it doesn't cross the line to outrageousness! But giving a unique twist to a name, to me, is fine.
Reply:For me it is Meaning and Origin! With Popularity being dead last of a concern for me. In fact I could careless if a name is popular or not. Also I would rather use a name that isn't being used by the masses so that it is more rare and not heard every day! I often like to use names from family ancestor's and find that the origin of the name is something of great importance to me!
Reply:Uniqueness and Origin.

Uniqueness because I don't want my child to have a really common name, that is so boring!

And alot of common names are so overused they don't sound like nice names anymore.

And Origin because I want my baby's ethnicity to show through his name.
Reply:Ugh, its important its not one of those names you cant pronounce after just a glace.

Also, it should be known but not common, and should have a nice meaning.

It should also flow well with the last name.
Reply:I want to choose a name that is well known, but not extremely popular. So they wont be one of five or so kids with the same name in their class. 鈾?And of course both parents will have to agree : )
Reply:I chose my daughters names Satine Julie and Sienna Vera

~because they seemed a lil different! :)

~they sounded nice together

~my family had no say...majority liked it but u always get the few who wont!

Reply:meaning is better. if it is pakistani then shahid is good it means witness.
Reply:meaning, origin, and acceptability
Reply:Meaning i think matters the most to me but also i need to like it so acceptability too:)
Reply:If your surname is Cart, don't name your son Orson
Reply:uggh thats soo much easier except when u and ure husband have to agree i hate the names he likes and vice versa
