Where can i find the naming convention details for ic ?
There is not an industry standard for numbers on IC's.

Having said that there are series of IC's that have been around for some time. For example the 7400 series of TTL (now obsolete mostly).

and the cmos 4000 series (also mostly obsolete)

78XX series voltage regulators

x86 processors

Operational amplifiers have many different numbers. One common amplifier is the 741. The number has no meaning.

If you have a part number you can get more info at

or try google (it usually can come up with info). Datasheets for a given part generally will give that manufactures info on what the prefixes and suffixes for that part mean.
Reply:Go to the website for the manufacturer of the IC. More often than not they'll have webpages describing their package markings. If not, you can call or EMAIL their technical support staff.
